Default Question about tires and air pressure for a 2007 3/4 ton Suburban

<hr style="color:#000000; background-color:#000000" size="1">I recently purchased a 2007 (3/4 ton) 2500 4WD Chevy Suburban. It came with new Michelin tires. The truck specs call for the tires to be inflated to 50 psi in front and 71 psi in back. Darn, you feel every bump or rock on the road. What a rough ride. Any suggestions on fixing this? Changing tires or load range? The truck calls for a load range of E. These tires are the size truck calls for and they are as hard as a rock.

I've tried lowering the air pressure but a low air pressure warning light comes on in the dash. This light will not go out until the air pressure is raised.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you're caught between the E-rated radials, and, IIRC, TPMS.

On the one side, you have what are basically 10 ply 80 PSI tractor-trailer tires.

While it's feasible to deflate them to "normal" pressures, your automatic

tire pressure monitoring alarm goes off if you try it.

I can't tell you it would be a good idea to disable your tire pressure monitoring

system.(or, possibly, use electrical tape to cover the light on the dash- that

would be very irresponsible)

Have you contacted a dealer about this issue?

It seems there was a time, in our recent past, when we

could check our own tire pressures without the aid of

a separate, dedicated factory system...
