Default radiator question

It feels like ive asked this before but oh well. First its for an 03 eclipse, but its just the radiator. the plastic at the top has a hairline crack thru it, and leaks out about a gallon every two weeks, would J.B. weld or something of the like work for a temp patch?

I have repaired cracks in plastic before by heating up a flathead screwdriver red hot and fusing the crack back together. Just a thought. I am not sure it will work on the high temp plastic the radiators are made of tho, there is also pressure pushing on it when its operating too.

Sounds good. Welding plastic, I can weld metal like no tomorrow. I may try that. Thanks for the idea.

It would be cool to have one of those ultrasonic plastic welding machines, I bet they are pretty expensive.

Plasma cutter first, I have a welding machine and access to many more, and will be googling this plastic welding machine you speak of. it'd just be cool to say i can weld plastic.

Hey Nauticstar87,
You can take that to a radiator shop and get a new top tank put on, for 30 or 40 bucks. I've repaired a few of these and I know, you don't want to be a tight wad when it comes to your radiator. If it overheats and wastes the motor then you'll want to kick yourself in the butt a few times for not fixing it right the first time.

Capp makes a good point, I might try mending a surge tank but I would get my radiator repaired properly if you have any doubts.

As far as plastic welding a butane soldering iron works perfectly, use a zip tie like you would welding wire or rod. If you want to TEMPORARLY patch the rad I would use JB weld
