Removing spare tire off a 2007 Tahoe
Can't find the "DIY" section, I've tried every forum, no such section that I can find. So sorry if question in in wrong area. Can't seem to remove spare to do po445 and 449 code job the rod just spins in the shaft and won't lower the tire. Now what am I doing wrong? I went to the Chevy dealer and they want 1 hour pay to do it for me. Any suggestions?

if it won't come down the hoist is stuck/seized. usually, it will move down about 6inches and stop. there is a lever that is supposed to pivot in the end of the cable but it gets filled with dirt and sticks.
to hard to write and explanation...easier to remove the bolt that holds the entire spare tire hoist and let the entire assembly drop. then power wash off the hoist and try to get the lever unlocked. otherwise your buying a new spare tire hoist.
