TH-400 or 700R4?
i have a 67 C-20 i will be putting a 454 in, theres a 350 with a TH-400 in there now... will the 400 bolt up to the 454 and will it be able to handle the power? its going to be used for street/strip with a little towing expected, i am thinking about getting a 700R4 because of the overdrive... also what are the pros and cons of these choices?

RE: TH-400 or 700R4?
Thanks Gary I appreciate the input, very helpful considering the most work i've done with a tranny is add fluid... ya im far from an expert with them. But im guessing the 400 will need to be beefed up a little bit, not a big deal because it needs a little work anyways. It has a bit of a leaking problem.

THM400 is a tried and true GM workhorse which bolts up to most older GM V8s if you have the right tranny bellhousing and torque converter. 1Gary is right.

you cant beat the torbo 400 it's a work horse ,if it need' you can put output shaft seals and pan gasket's in pretty easy ,or pull it and have it refreshed at a tran's shop .
