water leak
hi all, i have a 94 chevy pickup, it has a v6 in it,
today water started leaking outta the front, between the intake manifold and the block.
can anyone tell me if this should be a easy fix ?
im trying to see in my mind where water could be coming from under the front of the intake.
any thoughts ??
thanks

I am not 100% familiar with your motor but someone here will be. If I were to take a shot in the dark, it might be a inake manifold gasket, T-stat or the water pump. I am sure someone here will be able to help narrow it down.

If, in fact, it is coming from between the intake manifold and the block, it's a good bet that it's coming from one of the water jackets in the head and wicking down the gasket face.
Should be an easy fix.
Replace the intake gaskets, water neck gasket, thermostat (since your there).
Take your time on the tear down. Make sure you mark everything.
You didn't say whether or not it's Fuel injected (not that it matters)
you shouldn't have to take any of that apart, just pull it all as one unit with the intake.
This is just my insight, hope it helps.
Good luck.

hey mike thanks for the welcome.
jeff, you know where the rubber strip lays on the block, at the front and back under the manifold ?
waters pouring out there, looks like a 1 1/2 inch wide little water fall coming outta there.
is there a water jacket that close to the front there ?

It's Pretty close.
I took a picture of mine. It's a 350 but it should be the same.
Note the orange circles.
The green arrows are denoting where you should make sure to get a good dob of silicone. Trim the rubber gasket to fit snugly against the head w/ no distortion.
The blue line denotes where I will put a thin film of silicone. some books will say you're not supposed to, but I have never had a problem.
