I have had several false alarms from my collision warning system - those bright red LEDs and the shrill beep that are supposed to warn you if you close too fast on slow or stopped traffic. On a recent trip down I-75 I had three false alarms. In every case the traffic was light to medium. In two cases the closest cars ahead of me were at least 6 - 7 lengths ahead and moving at normal speeds. Their brake lights were not on. In the third case, there were no cars directly in front of me but there was an 18 wheeler in the next lane about 5 - 6 car lengths ahead. Having those lights flash and the beeper screech suddenly can be quite alarming!
Has this happened to anyone else? Any known problems or fixes?
