hey guys,
me and a friend rebuilt a motor on a 03 impala 3400 and we forgot to bleed the valves.
now when we go to crank the car up. it turns but wont start. come to find out it has no compression. is there any way to bleed the valves since theres still oil in there.
is there a fix without having to basically take the motor all apart again?
please help if you have any ideas.

are you talking about the hydraulic lifters???
If so, that wouldn't cause a no compression scenerio. They might collapse and cause the valves to not open, but would fix itself when the oil pressure builds up

but he said that its the valves.

unless you bent the valves, or put the rocker arms on wrong, its pretty foolproof....

Wrong rockers...rocker studs not pressed-in...wrong valves (short), flat cam lobes, timing chain or belt off...my god, it could be anything!!!!! Pics would be real helpful though. (those damn oil frogs again??)

hey sorry guys,
here is the whole story,
this was my old boss's car, and he got water in it one time, and bent a rod.
this was a perfect opportunity for me since i have a 02 z71, that i can barely afford to pay the notes on. there is a friend of the family who said he would help me put this thing back on the road so we could sell the truck, this way i could focus more on school and i wouldent have to work so much. we work on it when he has free time, and its been a 10 month project. about 2 weeks ago, the motor was finally put back together. everything was put back inside and we put the key in, just to find out that its not starting. when you crank it, the serpentine belt moves, but it wont crank. he took a plug out, stuck this hose in there, and we found out that we have no compression. he took the front valve covers off, and some other things. the next day he called me and told me that he had talked to a mechanic at a chevy dealer and that the valves still have oil inside them, and that we should hve bleeded the valves. this is why its taying open, and its not closing, causing it to have no compression. as of right now its a complete car other than this problem, taking a pic would be only of the motor since its already complete and inside the car. thank you for all yas helps.

he stuck the hose inthere, and then hooked it up to a compressor, it wasent leaking any air when he moved it around, so he said this means its not a bent valve.

have you checked the timing yet?

what would i be checking for?
making sure its still on and that the engine is timed?
that could create no compression?

Having your timing off enough on a vehicle can cause a world of hell. So, I doubt it is that pesky Oil Frog again.
