Why did you replace the EGR valve? What symptoms?

Yes I did the work myself, the symptons were a chech engine light no performance problems. I took it to advance auto and they checked it with their equipment and it came up with the EGR valve both times. Now it is going on the third time the second time i just cleaned it. The first time I replaced it the second time I cleaned it and the third time I saved the first one and cleaned it and put that one back in trying to save some money but not getting any where.

It may be a vacuum leak or a loose connection.

Check the Hoses running to the Egr. Also Is there a EGR valve Solenoid? If so Replace that to. Also they make a gasket with a screen in it for your EGR so Crud does not get trapped up in it.

Default EGR valve

I guess I have to look a little closer because I only see a plug with wires going to it/ EGR valve. And a tube going to the exhaust manifold and the new EGR came with a new gasket and it had no screen in it nor did the old one have a screen. And I also replaced that tube with a new one so it can't be that. Where is the EGR selinoid located ? Gary

Ok never mind I did not see you have a newer Vehicle there is no vacuum hoses with exception of the tube and there is no solenoid either. The screened gasket is not OEM but your local autoparts store should have it. Also check for vacuum leaks. Take a can of carb cleaner and spray around your intake manifold if you here the engine choke in a certain spot you need new intake manifold gaksets. Also check your vacuum hoses for cracks and dry rotting. And always remember just because a part is new does not mean it is good!

99% of the time when then EGR valve goes bad on these cars (first time), it damages the computer.
