Default Need help from 6-71 experts

Hello, over the winter I have built a 406 sbc with a 6-71 weiand supercharger. It has an MSD 6AL and BTM with an MSD pro billet dist and comp cams blower cam shaft. I called the MSD tech line to ensure the boxes were installed correctly, I have checked the timing, set a few degrees BTDC (piston verified physically at TDC, #3 intake valve open). The problem is the engine will not fire. Engine turns over, has fuel, but doesn't sound like it wants to start, just turns over. After cranking and hitting the gas pedal for a bit it will have a small backfire (a puff, little noise) either out the exhaust or from the carbs. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I turned the engine over til it blew my finger off. Check #1 piston with my piston stop tool. Both #1 valves are closed and the #3 intake is open. Pulled the dist. and the gear is OK. Reinstalled lining it up with #1 post and mark on balancer. Attached the plug to the wire and rested it against the header, cranked and got lots of spark. When I put it all back together, I tried to start it and it almost wanted to go. I am thinking my issue might be with the carbs flooding the engine. When the engine sits for a while it almost starts. Once I've cranked a few times I get nothing. I am using the same carbs I ran on my tunnel ram. They are Holley model 4160's. Now that I think about it, someone is sure to post ' why are you running old carbs? ' because these one's have been on that tunnel ram for 7 years.

What carbs are you blower guys running? I was thinking of switching to Edelbrock carbs, any suggestions?

Parts list:
MSD 8360 Billet Dist., MSD 6AL, MSD Boost Timing Master, Comp Cams Blower Cam 12-400-4, Comp Cams lifters/push rods, Comp Cams Roller Rockers, Cloyes Dual Roller Timing Chain, Holley Blue Fuel Pump w/Regulator set at 5psi, Holley 4160 carbs.
