Default 04 malibu stub shaft removal

i got the driveshaft out, and the seal is leaking around the stub shaft, rented a slide hammer, and it would hold on to the shaft due to the angle
so i picked up a cheap harbor freight one, and ground the puller peices so it would fit a little better, still cant get it out
tried prybars
orders an inner cv removal tool for the slide hammer, and must be the wrong thing, must be for removing the cv
there is some play in the shaft, cant remember if there was before or not, do i just need to keep trying, or is there some other way?
debating grinding down the inner cv removal tool so it will it in there

Welcome to the forum,
I am not familiar with the vehicle,.but is there a snap ring or clip holding the shaft in that needs to be removed?

You're going to need a couple of J tools:

IMPORTANT: Handle the stub shaft carefully. The stub shaft sleeve is reusable if the sleeve is not damaged or removed from the stub shaft. Damage to the stub shaft sleeve will result in a transmission leak.

1. Remove and discard the snap ring (57) from the end of the stub shaft (58). The stub shaft snap ring is not reusable.
2. Attach the J 6125-1B slide hammer to the J 38868 shaft remover. Install the J 38868 into the snap ring groove on the stub shaft (58). Tighten the J 38868 securely to the stub shaft.
3. Pull lightly on the shaft and rotate it until the stub shaft snap ring at the differential seats in the taper on the differential side gear.

NOTE: Confirm that the stub shaft snap ring (57) is properly seated in the differential side gear. If not, damage may occur to the transmission when you attempt to remove the stub shaft.

4. Pull the stub shaft (58) out with the slide hammer impact.

Sorry, can't help you with that. If it's just the axle seal problem, see if you can pry it out and install a new one.

i've tried and tried, wont come out, took a big washer the size of the snap ring on the inside, cut off enough so i could slide it in where the snap ring goes and used a slide hammer on that, and only managed in bending the washer, gave up and put the car back together
