2004 Malibu security disables car
I have a 2004 Malibu. I had a remote start installed 3.5 years ago. Past few months the factory security will enable and prevent the fuel system from coming on. You have to turn the ignition switch on for ten minutes without interuption then the system will reset. Does this when ever it wants. Almost always when the remote start is used. Called the dealer and asked them as I worded above and they said possibly a $180 ignition switch? Expensive maybe. May go a week with no problem then every time we get in the car for a while. Really annoying. Any ideas???? Thanks.

I had the same problem with my wifes car. Read up on the Passlock System. It's an anti-theft system that GM uses. From everythnig I've read, it essentially dissables the car when the system thinks the car is being started by a means other than the factory key.
I did however find instructions on-line on how to bypass the system. I installed the items about 6 months ago and we haven't had anymore trouble from it.
I'll see if I can find them and post a link.

I have a 2004 chevrolet classic that does the same thing. It is a real problem with lots of complaints. Hotrod185, or anyone else, if you could let us know how to fix or bypass this it would be great!
Thank you.
Thank you.

The attached directions worked for me, but there are a few different variations of how to bypass the system. I recomend to do a quick search for PassLock Disable and do a little reading.
Enjoy
