Exclamation Installing a system and new head unit in a 2007 Malibu

I am the owner of a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. I hate this car..I have had so many problems with it and the engine literally just died this week. This car is not worth fixing to me. I found a beautiful 2007 Malibu LT V6 Sedan for sale at a nearby dealership. I really like this car and was thinking about getting it. I want to know if it is possible to put a regular sized head unit in the Malibu. My first attachment shows the radio in the Malibu that I want. The second shows a regular sized head unit (this is the stock one for a 2005 Sonata, I have an after market, but they are the same size) with a cubbyhole underneath from a 2005 Sonata. If I take that cubby hole and a regular sized aftermarket head unit, could I fit both into the Malibu to take up the space? Is this even possible since the temperature and other information is shown on the Malibu's stock head unit. The reason I am concerned is because I have an iPod that I like to listen to in the car. I don't see any type of aux jack in the pictures of the Malibu so I am not even positive if there is one. My other concern is my two 12 in subs (3rd attachment) I want to hook up to the Malibu if I get it. I know I can hook them up to the stock radio but I am guessing that I would need a converter which can be costly (that's what I hear) I want to make sure I can at least hook the speakers up to this car before I get it. I also want to know options for my iPod..The iPod hookups that go into your cig lighter thing and where you tune to an empty radio station suck..Is there any other way? Please help!

Check out Crutchfield online catalog. Click on outfit my car, put in your vehicle info. Then you will know for sure.

I just put a system in my 2007 Malibu ls. I wanted a clean look so I ended up buying a replacement harness for my head unit. They go in smoothly and your head unit will go in smoothly. In terms of all the information you'll probably end up losing that feature unless you want to pay for the head units that come with both the radio and information screen. Another thing I was told was that if installing an aftermarket radio I had to get a wiring harness which was pretty expensive.

All radio/head units are a standard width.
The height of the factory units can vary, but most likely are just a double height of the aftermarket.
If your knowledgeable, sounds like you could be, just cut and solder / splice the wires in. An easy thing to do is buy a harness made to change factory to aftermarket head units. I'm not sure of cost. You then just plug into the existing harness in the car and plug into the head unit, no cuting, no soldering, no splicing.

depending on what you want to do www.metraonline.com offers kits for your car
all but one you lose the info center

they are : 95-3302 double din
95-3302s d/d
99-3301 single din
99-3302
99-3302s
this one retains the info center but can be quite pricey
99-3303
and the wiring harness 70-2103
and last the antenna adapter
40-GM10
hope this helps you

99-3303 looks great. So all I need is that and 40-GM10 to install a single din head unit and retain oil life, mpg, etc? Thanks in advance
