I think anything less than 6 cylinders, & you're gonna have problems

The LED "reducing engine power" to warn the driver in case of serious transmission problems and / or one or more components of the engine system. If an error / errors in transmission or control of the engine power that starts the engine is reduced, the experiences of the vehicles do not overcome a loss of performance and extreme power and vehicle speeds of more than 20 mph.

Angry Ecs, service power train, loss of traction

This is SOOOOOOOOO frustrating. I bought my 2010 Malibu from a Chevy dealer. It came with a "kill switch" as part of the package deal. U know, one of those controls that u need to push or the engine won't start. All was fine and dandy. Before the 100,000 miles I had a computer changed and the gas pedal sensor changed. After the 100,000 miles it was running pretty good until about a year ago. I was entering the freeway with my children in the car , on a ramp at night when the car loss power, and my dashboard lite up like an amber Christmas tree. My fast reaction to set the 4ways and moving over to the side of the ramp ( where there is no shoulder room) gave the other drivers behind me enough time to not hit us. We were only a few miles from the Chevy dealer so I took it in and left a message to my Service Rep. next morning he told me that after they checked the codes that it was the transmission. I said thank u and took it to a transmission specialist because I could not believe my tranny went out only after 150+ miles. Chevys last longer than that when there well maintained. After seeing two transmission specialist they told me it wasn't the issue. That it was either a. Computer or electrical issue. Went back to the dealer and asked them to look at it again because it's not the transmission. The dealer stood by that decision and just so I could get my car back I agreed. So the tranny was changed. It two days later I was back. Same issue. After they looked again they found a sensor blew out. That was replaced. Not a week later same issue. Took it back they said it was a short caused by water leaking from the windshield. Sensor was changed along with some electrical wires. Drive it for a while and just last Tuesday same issue. This time they said it was the after market alarm system so they disable it and I got my car back on Friday. It's Saturday and the car loss powers, the ECS and service power train has piped up again. My family and I have been saved each time the damm car losses power but that doesn't fix my on going issue with my Malibu. I have always loved my chevys and owners them for long periods of time. But I can't keep doing this **** with my Malibu!!!!! I am sooooo frustrated and pissed off with the run around I keep getting I want a final result to this issue so I can love my Chevy again!!!!!!! Does anyone know how to fix this issue for good???????

Hi Julia
i know how frustrating that can be ! I got my throttle body fixed at the dealer for about $500 and issue hasn't come back and it's been 2.5 years now ! I don't know why they would suggest transmission as the problem ! I came to this forum and diagnosed it myself after never getting a straight answer !! Best of luck

Default Will try

Thanks hahmedca for the info. I am so frustrated and tired with the lies from the dealer. They always recommend the most expensive first. Like if we're made of money. I've spent thousands of dollars in the last year. I will Be doing this because am tired of spending money at the dealer without it being fixed. It's very annoying and unsafe. This crap keeps happening when am either on the freeway or entering the freeway. I've been very lucky no one has hit us. Thanks again hahmedca

I have a GMC Sierra 1500, and I've had the same issue with my vehicle. It's proving to be dangerous to even drive the vehicle. I've replaced all of the normal culprits by now.

Truck is producing an error message "Reduced Engine Power" in October 2016, the scanned code was P1125; the APP Sensor and Pedal. Component was replaced in October 2016 by Dick Norris Buick GMC Palm Harbor. R.E.P Warning still displays, and engine continues to lose power despite repairs.

Truck was taken to Dick Norris Buick GMC Palm Harbor a second time to find out why their repair was ineffective. Their mechanics stated the following:

· Throttle Body (Connector / throttle wire is damaged) According to GMC this component is not original
· Oxygen Sensor needs replacement. On 3/20 I had the throttle body replaced, alone with the throttle wires. The O2 sensors were replaced, and 2 asb sensors were cleaned and one was replaced.

The issue persists. I'm at whits end, and swearing never to buy another GMC / Chevy vehicle. Can anyone help me out here? Restore my faith in American made products?

I have a 20014 Chevy Mailbu Maxx. The mileage was around 140,000 when it started switching into "Engine Reduced Power" along with the TC off light, the Engine light, the car with the wrench in it icon, (Can't find the meaning) - it's the middle of 90 degree weather, no rain and the car just switches into that mode - This is useful when I was on icy roads in Illinois but I live in the South, there is no need for this option. It's wholly unnecessary as I can drive any vehicle with a Class D rating, I don't need this option, by the way. It began last August. I was meeting friends, the car went into Engine Power Reduced three times, we had the car sit awhile. We had a mechanic who was kind enough to look at it, gave me his honest opinion. It needed work but after fixing that, the problem persists.
They buy me a new battery and have that installed (nice of them). it still kept happening, I took the car to another shop to have more work on it (which seems to be NOT the issue) They didn't seem to know what was causing the MAIN issue on this thread.
Engine light codes pointed to Accelerator Pedal Sensor.
The Reduced Power problem went away for a bit until LAST MONTH (April 2017) It's been going into Low Power mode with all the engine lights, etc. almost three times a day. Usually when I am in traffic or in idle roll. It only shuttered down ONCE a few days ago. Code: again: Accelerator pedal Sensor. Every time this happens, I put my hazards on, pull to the side, shot the car down, wait for a few minutes, turn the car back on and keep going until it happens again. I read this forum as much as I could. This morning, it did this four times. The last time, I cruised into a parking lot and when I went to hit the brakes, those did not work. I put it into park and pushed the ebrake pedal and shut the car down completely. I ended up having it towed to the dealership and they seemed to be on the right track. Now after "diagnostics" and replacing the Accelerator Pedal Sensor, it went all over 20 miles before reverting back into "Eng Reduced Power" another FOUR FREAKING TIMES. I am out of money for this month but will be calling the dealership to see how this problem wasn't fixed.

I'm driving through the Tennessee mountains and can barely get up and down them. I've already had the PCM replaced I believe is what it's called. I can't risk going back and looking at it right now. I've noticed a couple other recalls on this vehicle. Are you still active on this forum? I have not used it before

Default Throttle Body Cleaner by CRC

My 2012 Camaro had the message " service stabilitrak and engine power reduced". I was a few miles from home so I limped on home and searched the forum. Saw that a few people tried using CRC Trottle Body Cleaner so I decided to give it a shot. Followed instructions from a You Tube video and since I was under the hood, I also cleaned the "Mass Airflow Sensor" for which CRC also has a specific spray. Finished by throwing a can of Sea Foam into the gas tank. It's now been two months with no recurrence of the problem. I now use high octane gas and will add Sea Foam every couple of months. Total cost $16.00. Give this a try before taking it in to a repair shop. Nothing tricky, anyone can do this.

Default Reduced Engine Power issues - 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe and never had any problems with my Tahoe.

I was coming back from a trip in Texas and the Reduce Engine Power light came on. I was on the highway and the vehicle's power was reduced dramatically. I eventually towed the vehicle back home.

Question:
How can I zero in the problem without trouble shooting the vehicle with all the different parts that may be the cause of the Reduce Engine Power?

I took the vehicle to Pep Boys for the dianogostics and the code I was provided was P1516 Reduce Engine Power (Reporgram PCM). Pep Boys told me only the Chevrolet dealership can fix this issue. I also understand that there may be other issues but how I find out if the dealership is being honest or if they're trying to pull a fast one.

I need to get me vehicle fixed but at the same time I don't want to trouble shoot parts over and over again and getting my vehicle fixed.

Thanks again.
Rick
