raw gas smell-running or not.
I have a beautiful 2001 Monte Carlo SS with 95K miles. I love it... But, it gives off a raw gas smell when I pull up to a stop or when I park it in the garage. The smell is so bad that I am almost afraid to leave it closed up in the garage. It does'nt matter how full the tank is. I find no leaks on the floor or anywhere on the engine. Anybody got any ideas ?

Welcome to the forum. You probably have a fuel leak somewhere but not enough to drip. When you first turn the key to RUN, does the check engine light come on for a few seconds during the bulb test? If it stays on past that, you'll want to get it scanned at least since it may be fuel vapor leak.

I had that same problem in my 95 Monte Carlo. Turned out there was some rust on one of the seams in the fuel tank. You may want to check that tank and where the fuel pump sits.

Hopefully by now you have discovered what the problem was. Please tell us so we can all learn. My son's 90 had to have the injectors replaced and I pinched an o ring at one of the injectors. Gas would collect around the engine.
