Unhappy 1993 cheverolet k1500 flex plate installation

hey my name is josh and i'm trying to put a new flex plate on and i don't know which way to install it. there is a weight on the plate and need to know if it goes on the engine side or the torque converter side? please help.. the teeth on the plate look like they are beveled a little and make me believe it wants to be the weight on the block side but thats not how the last one came off. and i'm taking it off because the starter doesn't caught it it only hits it and spins....
