Default 2000 s-10 please help!

So I got this 2000 S-10 with the 4.3L in it. I love it to death but It started making a loud grinding noise on start-up and a squeak while running. So I crawled under there to see what the problem was. After trial and error I finally found out that the threads (where the outmost starter bolt goes) was broken off. Literally where there should be a full circle of threads, there is a chunk of the block missing. I tried to rig it up and make the most of it but I have Finally concluded that I will have to most likely get it fixed at a shop.

So my question is does anybody know a way of fixing this yourself or at least about how much I'm looking at if i'm taking it to the shop. Thanks in advance!

Without seeing it, it is very difficult to suggest something. Can you post a picture of the broken piece?
