Default 2001 S-10 Blazer oil pressure

On our 01 blazer, v-6, 4 wheel drive the oil pressure runs below the 40 mark on the gauge. When started cold it will go above 40 then when heated goes below. Will idle at the large marker that I believe to be 20.
Can anybody advise what it should be running. 5/30 oil and Wix filter used.

Thanks for any reply

My 4.3 V-6 has 171,000 miles on it and it still gets 60 psi while driving. At idle it is about 30-35 psi. I use 10W-30 oil. Try a mechanical gauge to see if your gauge is reading correctly.

Old Chevy, Thank you for the reply. I will try the mechanical gauge, did not think of it.
Any thoughts on Synthetic 10/30 oil. I have 82K on the car.

Synthetic is good, but if you change the oil and filter regularly, there is not really a need for it or the added expense..

This is straight out of the manual. You description is normal

OIL PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS

1,000 RPM 42 kPa (6 psi)
2,000 RPM 125 kPa (18 psi)
4,000 RPM 166 kPa (24 psi)
NOTE: Oil Pressure minimum at normal operating temperature.

MDTAHOE
Thank you for the information

Old Chevy
I normally change oil on the Blazer at 4000 miles. Synthetic oil was a thought but not one that I go with. I use 5/30 oil and normally a WIX manufactured filter. Made in USA

I use 10W/30 and also change the oil and filter at 4000 miles since it was new. My truck runs great and idles smoothly with 171,000 miles and also never had any problems with the truck except for the normal maintenance.
