Default 91 S10 Blazer Heater Core Removal

My husband is in the process of trying to remove and replace a heater core on an '91 S10 Blazer, has anyone done this? He thinks might have to remove wheel housing to get at it right now. What experience is out there that may assist us?

Default RE: 91 S10 Blazer Heater Core Removal

tell homer (hahahaha) that he doesn't even need 2 get @ any of the bolts 4 the outside of the box, everything is done from inside the cab. if your truck has A/C it's a little more work, but don't worry, it's all relatively simple. if your truck does have A/C, i've personally found it easier to remove the dash bolts on the bottom right, lower middle & the torx screws accross the top (inside the defroster vents) to allow the dash 2 b pulled out a little. remember this is my own personal experience, and since the first core broke right where the pipes r connected to the core 'cause i gave it that little extra push 2 get it past the bottom of the dash the first time, i pulled the dash the second time & have had no problems with it again (it's been 4 1/2 yrs. since i've done it the second time, only 11 1/2 months between the first & second time-and let me tell u, Feb. really sucks 2 do your heater core...TWICE!). there's also an access panel inside the glove box 2 get @ the top screws. when u reinstall the dash, put the torx screws in first (this will allow u 2 line up the dash with the screw holes more easily.
