Default Headlights going out while driving

Just replaced my stock headlights in my 96 s10 I replaced them about a month ago with new whole headlights to run h4 bulbs they have been fine with no issues except for today when I was driving it would like cycle through I would have the high beams on and it would switch to low and then shut off then they would come back on then it would do the same thing when it would do this the headlight switch in the dash would go out as well the rest of the dash and everything else stays lit. I haven't checked any wiring yet but I wanted to get some opinions I used crimp on ends to connect the old wires to the new bulb connector. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
