Default universal joints

every once and a while i hear a mettalic pop when the truck is turning shaprly. years ago, that meant a universal joint going bad. anyone know if that still the same on late 90's s-10's. whats involved in replacing them?

it could mean you have a ball joint going bad. is it a 2 or 4 wheel drive? that would make it easyer to tell what is making the noise

then i would say ball joint. try jacking the truck up and shaking the wheel around and see if you here that cluncking noise. there shouldebt be any movement or very little.
