v8 swap
I am going to swap a v8 in my 92 GMC Sanoma 2wd auto first will a 350 bolt up to the 4.3 frame mounts i have been told both ways and if i need a kit would like to get it before i tear it apart
also it has a 700R4 with 160000 miles on it would i would be better of redoing the 700r4 or could I swap in a turbo 350 or 400 it is going to be a streat/strip about 45 % of use will be on the strip so i am not to concered about overdrive any help would be great

RE: v8 swap
I just got into chevy's a couple weeks ago so here I go.(People, don't rag me to hard now.)
Front K member - to support the weight and correct fit for the 350
Motor Mount
TH Series tranny if you are going auto. I have a TH400 with a slap shifter
8.7" rear end (DO NOT BE LIKE SOME AND GET A DINKY FORD REAR FOR CHEVY)
350 Flywheel
T.C Torque Converter
I think you might need a shorter driveshaft
Throw Ins...
4.11 gears
15" wheels all around
That's my basic setup on my Chevy S-10 V8 355ci and I can feel all 290'ish hp. I could have a hell of a lot more if I rebuild my dang carb.

RE: v8 swap
Yes the 4.3 motor mounts are the same and the Tranny will also work if you plan on making over 400 horsepower keep in mind the rearend is the weakest link.

I have an 02 Blazer 2 wheel drive, I want to put a chevy 350 carb motor in it. I was told that I cant use the existing 460 tranny cause its an electronic tranny, also if I put a turbo 350 tranny none of the gauges will work. Help Please!

2001 Blazer heart Transplant - advise needed
My name is John - Hi from New Zealand. I have a 2001 Blazer that someone had previously done some engine work on and left an intake manifold bolt in the the engine somewhere.
Two months ago the extra bolt found its way between a piston and the counter balance on the crank. It blew a 20mm hole in the sump and destroyed a piston. Anyway I am looking at putting a V8 Vortec to replace the engine.
I have a Chevy expert hear in NZ that is looking out for a Vortec between the years 96 and 99 he tells me it is the best swap as the current computer will run the new transplant. You just need the exhaust manifolds and the loom and move the radiator forward to make room for the extra cylinders. I'm still doing the research. Its a right hand drive so as yet I'm not sure if that will make a difference if I have a lefty engine. I assistance is extremely welcome.
