Default Wrench's and Socket's

I am replacing the whole rear axle on my 96 Blazer, but I cannot seem to find the right size socket for the leaf spring clamps and the sway bar clamps. Also I was wondering is it possible to remove the axle without dropping the whole leaf spring. I have been also told not to use a impact wrench on these nuts, and I was wondering why

Quick update got the end just waiting to get the tie down the axle to the leaf spring, LOL none of the auto parts store had them in stock. But both wheels turn with out the clunking sound Hell if I had know it was that easy to replace I would have done it along time ago.
