Default want to lift my 04 suburban.

How do you raise with torsion bars, and what are the pros and cons. I am looking to lift my 04 4wd suburban but most full suspension kits are a little out of my price range right now. Also any other suggestions on cheaper reliable ways to add some inches thanks Register today for free or log-in if already registered to remove this ad!

Have you looked into a body lift? I think you can get most body lift kits for under 200 bucks!

All you have to do is tighten the bolts that at the end of the torsion bars. What you would be doing is twisting the bar so it forces the lower control arm down, which raises the truck. Using an impact gun would be the easiest way. Pros: You might be able to get an inch or two without any problems. Cons: You'll only get an inch or two. Your ride is going to be very stiff. You might have to shim your upper control arms outward and you drive axles might need spacers.

I had an 6" RCD lift put on my 01 Silverado Z71. IMO its the best lift. The front tires don't stick out 2" like other lifts.

And I agree with suzuki. A body lift is a good, cheap route. Easy install even with one person.

NEVER use an impact gun on the torsion adjusters. Thats a good way to break the heads off of them.
Just use an 18mm socket.

your last resort lift should be a torsion bar crank.do it right the first time, saving money now untill something happens to the torsion bar or front suspension.the way to save would be to get coil spacers(cheap)..and put a small block in the rear..minor trimming and some nice 33's would get a good looking stance..either way remember to get it aligned....or save and get a 6 inch lift with some 35's and never look back....good luck....sub's look great with a lift on em

Not necessarily a last resort.. As long as you don't go more than an inch with the t-bars, you're pretty much safe. Lift spindles are a much better option though if you can find them.
