As the title says. I'm looking into metal adhesive as opposed to welding.
This is with regards to our 69 Impala primarily, and to a lesser extent an experimental project on our 91 Jeep Cherokee.
On the Cherokee there is a small rust hole in the rocker panel (imagine that!) and on the Impala, at the rear wheel wells there is a bit of rot/rust at the very corners of the wheel wells on both sides.
I was thinking about cutting out all the rust, and making/installing new corners. Then grinding the edges smooth and using a little bondo to smooth the whole seam.
As the welder we have is not worth a fart and will take a lot to revive, I was looking to an alternative to installing these pieces of metal. The rust is nothing structural either. I have had a few people I know who do body work that like using the adhesive as it is supposedly as strong as weld.
Something like this, but I have not heard which brand is good.
well they are using adhesive's on every thing now sem make's a lot of good product's i havent personaly used this but it look's good .i think it takes a special application gun ,take a look at the catalog .http://semproducts.com/Catalog.asp?prod=89
