I have a 2001 2500 Hd the oil gauge moves if your starring at it its like the needle moves back and forth in a V when idling. goes back and forth real fast could a have an oil pump issue.

It's more likely the oil pressure sensor as opposed the oil pressure. You can hook an analog ohm meter to the sensor and see if it also bounces . If not, the problem is in the gauge itself or related circuits. If it still bounces, hook up an oil pressure gauge. If the gauge reading bounces, it's an internal mechanical problem. If it's smooth, the sensor is no good. Or you could take a shortcut and plug in a known good sensor.
