Default 2006 Equinox squeaky steering

I'm new to the forum and recently purchased a 2006 Equinox LT that has about 25k miles on it. The steering has been making an annoying squeaking noise when I turn the wheel to the left. I have searched the internet about this and as a result I greased the boot in the floorboard where the steering shaft passes through and the intermediate column joints but the noise is still there. It doesn't matter if the engine is running or if the Equinox is moving. I had someone turn the wheel with the engine off while I was listening from outside with the hood open and I couldn't hear it so I believe it is in the steering column in the interior - possibly right at the wheel. Any advice/assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Register today for free or log-in if already registered to remove this ad!
