Thumbs up New American Automaker

Looks like Penske Automotive will emerge as a new American Automaker as it is buying Saturn from GM. Several GM Saturn models will still be made on a contract basis with GM, but it'll be interesting to see what new models come out of the deal.

I liked the Saturn brand when it came out, the ex owned one of the first Saturn coupes it was roomy, basic and inexpensive, but in GM fashion they over burdened the line with crap and too many duplicate models. GM would have done well to let Saturn be its own brand and should have developed and sold the Volt under the Saturn branding and kept the focus on Saturn as the Japaneses auto alternative its started out to be...

Those guys (Penske) always seemed real progressive to me. Already having 3 million customers won't hurt either now will it. Do you'all see them in it for the long term or this as just a short term profit maker?

Who knows? Maybe if they don't start arrogantly f%#&ing their customers over, in two or three decades they'll have 50 MILLION loyal customers the way GM should have right now.

Go Penske!!(Quick Tip: Don't hire your executives or mechanical design engineers from GM.)

==update== Penske never finished the deal due to General Motors not wanting to let go of a factory.

Evansblue - hows that "inovations/inventions" thread coming?

This is the reason that GM is on their way out, they are NOT practical thinkers. And will NEVER digh them selves out of a 12billion dollar goverment whole, with cars they are selling to their OWN people at 50k$ and just bring out cars that are 20k$ +. I drove a saturn for a long time, and i regret selling it...
