Update:

- We ordered the sub + amp combo.
- Tried to install the speakers, but we need a drill.
- Am figuring out how to remove jack storage box.

Old dirty speaker

New clean speakers

Dirty door

This is my first time taking off door panels so that was fun figuring out & going through.

Well, that's the update for now. I need to borrow a drill to mount the new speakers & buy some supplies to take off my truck's jack storage box so that I can run both subs opposed to running just one.

I would like to avoid having to place the sub on top of my seat.

here's a separate link cuz i don't know if the picture showed up on here.

I have to be your friend to see the picture.

Anyway as you said in your last post you can take out all the stuff on the right passenger side to fit two subs.

Aw then add me as a friend
I thought I had changed it so everyone could see it.

Dilemma solved though. I was able to take off the last holding piece
of the storage unit & remove it. Found out how from this website.

http://www.duhabins.com/chevy-under-...rage-10037.htm

We also got the speakers in !!
They sound a lot clearer than my previous stock ones, by far.

Now all we need to do is order the Head Unit & sub box, then install everything.

While I was looking for sub boxes that can fit my truck, I was thinking about
finding a place up here than can custom fit mine so I can place my amp in between them.

I got a quote for how much it would be for them to install the head unit,
subs & amp, and custom make a sub box for my truck...
Worst case scenario (installation & buying RCA cables, etc)
They'd charge me about $550.00 ! That's including the sub box too tho.
I considered it for a while, then I researched on how to install an amp
& it doesn't look like it'd be worth paying $300.00 (considering the sub box
would cost about $200 or so), it doesn't even look like it would be worth
paying even $100.00 for installation ! So I'm definitely going to set it up myself.

When everything comes in I'll post up pics & give updates.
In the meantime, while my items are shipping, I might replace the rear speakers.

Just remember, if you do go to have someone make a custom box for you make absolutely sure they know what they're doing. Or what ever you decide to do, the quality of the sound can be reduced greatly if the right amount of air space isn't reached.

Also, I forgot to mention I'm not sure exactly how much space is needed for the box you plan on getting but you may want to consider getting shallow subs since they're going to be installed in a confined box. The larger subs may not fit.

Sweet.

Amp & subs just shipped from ebay.. shipping to Alaska is way too expensive..

How much clearance should I have from the subs & floor?

I'm thinking of going with a downfire subbox. I was looking online but I'm
not sure how much clearance I should have & if there's enough space for
us to install the amp between the subs.

There's a place up here called Perfectionists Sounds & Security, they have
good reviews and I know some people who have gotten their vehicles customized
there but it may be a bit pricey. I need to call for quotes.

Thanks for your help again, it may be a little while before we get the head
unit, my bubba needs to buy snow tires for his car first, but I'm not rushing
him to spend so much money on me.

Will keep this thread updated.

Update:

I got the subs & amp a while back, it shipped & arrived less than a week after
I had ordered it off of ebay. GREAT SELLER !!

Anyways, my truck is messing up. It's taking a while to turn over when I start it, it'll
crank like crazy & I'll sit there with the key turned for a whole minute, and when I'm in
4wd my truck shakes violently. I'm getting it checked tomorrow morning & I'll see how
much it will be to salvage my truck for at least another 3 - 5 years. Otherwise I might
trade it in for this 2 door tahoe I found with 20 k miles on it.

So sound system is on hold, but here are some pics..
