Default 2000 Malibu check engine light problem

Hi, I am a new user in this forum. Please help me to have a look at my car check engine light problem.

I bought this 2000 malibu 60k miles from a dealer this month, and the check engine light was on for 3 times. The first time, the dealer invoice said " check codes-P440-large evap. leak code", and they reset the code. After 2 days, the light was on again, the dealer did some work on it and said they replaced some part and reset the code. Then after 2 days, the light was on for the 3rd time. Now I am almost frastrated, I don't know what to do, should I ask the dealer to fix it the 3rd time? I am afraid it will come out the 4th time...

Can someone give me good suggestion? how to fix the code P440 problem? Thank you so much!!!

even if you didn't purchase an extended warranty you should have you 3/3 warranty.. take it back to the dealer until it it fixed

It could be sensors or a fuse tell them to make sure they run through those as well that was the problem with our 2001 blazer when the engine light kept coming on I think it might have been a problem in chevys wiring departments?

Bring it back to them and have them fix it. If you start messing around with it, it will only give them a reason to not warrant it.

Try getting a new gas cap, a faulty gas cap can cause a p0440 code, computer see's it as a vaccum leak. i would suggest an ac delco part

Was the ERG replaced on it? If so i have heard of unhooking it when you erase the codes might fix it.

The seals do not typically go bad. Tighten the gas cap and it should shut off in a couple miles if not after 30 seconds.
