Default Heater temp issues

my heater and a/c wont adjust to the temp i set... lets say it is 40degs outside and you want to warm the cab. in the old manual style heater you adjust slide the control to get a little warm air. these new push button ones dont seem to work. i push the button to where it reads 73 degs and it still blows cool air. i have to take it to like 85 degs then it blows hot air. there doesnt seem to be a happy medium. anyone have the same problem? the dealer tells me (for $45 bucks) that it works like it is supposed to. am i just lame? I have a 05 suburan and it is doing the same thing. If you want warmer air it just blows cold. I have not found anything to fix it yet.

Default heater

it is very annoying and yet the dealer charged me 45 bucks to tell me it was working fine... and GM is surprised that they went bankrupt? what about your headlights? do they come on while it is still daylight?
