Hi again, i need help once again. The oil pressure gauge in my chevy caprice keeps dropping significantly when i stop at a red light or stop sign. When i stop the car will start to shake like it has a real bad miss but will not cut out? The car has a new oil pump so can anyone tell me if the oil pressure switch is connected to the fuel pump relay? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Some of the oil pressure switches are connected to the fuel pressure relay to protect the engine if oil pressure is lost. This will turn the engine off not make it run bad. How low does the pressure drop? I would suspect the pressure is dropping because the car is barely running causing the idle speed to come way down which means the oil pump is not pumping as fast. You may need to have a manual oil pressure test done with a test gauge. Also low oil pressure is usually cause by a worn engine not a bad pump.

thanks mdtahoe. The oil pressure will drop only when i stop at a stop light/ stop sign/ or just come to a stop. When i accelerate after stopping the oil pressure will go back to normal. When i stop it is also jerks like a hard miss but i think i found that problem.
