Larry Pearson, Kyle Petty and Jr all belong to the same club; talented race car driving fathers who bred sons with a last name and hardly a lick of talent. Plus I think that Jr has had evertyhing handed to him regardless of what he says or his father said and the death of his father in the sports biggest race has only accentuated that. Look at the media coverage up to this year, it was whoever was up front and then the hourly Jr update.
Hell when a 50 year old who has a bad tendency to just ride around and be content with where he is running and not mix it up has more wins at HMS than he does you know something is not right.

I think any "free passes" he was getting because of his father came to an end. Like any other sport, it's "what have you done for me lately". Junior currently has only won 1 race in the last three seasons (including the current season).
Watching some of his interviews lately, the frustration is showing. He's under a huge amount of pressure to win, and he's running out of people to blame. He can only ride on his popularity for so long. There's a lot of drivers that have passed him in fan support.
There is a saying in any kind of racing."It's better to be lucky than good".We have raced against some of the biggest budgets in racing in our class and won. These cars are designed so the smallest changes make a HUGE difference. And some of the smallest design up dates(more often than not the most expensive) also make a huge difference. And who takes the hit for all that??.Yepper, the driver. He stands there rep'ing the sponsor and is forced to say how hard everyone worked on the car and had a bad day knowing it's all about combo's,yaw know the one he knows he doesn't have or can't afford.
I think all these drivers are aleast ten times more talented than the normal driver in the stands.Just NASCAR has to keep up the show that anyone "could" drive these cars.We all know that isn't the truth.
He's been having bad luck with his cars and/or pit crew. As well as having lots of bad luck in always getting involved in wrecks. But hey, this past weekend he finally got a top 10 at Talladega!
