Ticking noise coming from throttle body 93 chevy 1500 350
So the intake started leaking on my old 350. Replaced everything myself, put it back together and it started knocking. I guess we got a little bit of dust from the old gaskets in there.
We bought a new 350 from GM, it is like the base model, only 190hp. Put it all back together and it runs well. There is a ticking coming from the throttle body now though. It was never there before, it is very noticeable a idle and then kinda levels off as the RPM's go up. So yes it does get faster with higher RPM's but then just goes away. I used the broom handle method to try to listen exactly where it is coming from and it is definitely loudest at the throttle body. Is there some kind of a motor in the throttle body? Anyone know what this could be? It is very noticeable inside the cab.

I have the same prob on a TBI installed on a 305. Making me crazy trying to locate the trouble. Nothing srong on engine internals. Have you found an answer???
the throttle body has 2 solenoids that meter the fuel going into the intake. one of the solenoids might have got bumped or internally injured causing it to tick.
Hey, I might have a fix, recently i replaced my sparkplugs on my truck, and after putting my spark plug wires back on I had noticed a small clicking noise coming from one side of the engine. Although it went away at higher rpm, it still bugged, and hey clicking is free at no extra charge.
So a friend and I went over it, and it turned out to be a spark plug wire to be out of shape, on all the way, but still not fully on, and the sound was it shaking from it being loose, and hitting the exhaust manifold repeatedly. I guess at hire rpms it doesn't have enough time to go far enough to hit the manifold before it gets jerked back.
On tbi's (throttle body injection) your injectors (not solenoids) are inside your throttle body. If you take off your air filter its a very noticable noise if you still cant hear it put your fingers on top of the injectors. I damaged my from rebuilding throttle body I didnt drop them but think the clean fuel going through the clean filter on the injectors cleaned the gum out of them and made them tick. same concept as causing internal damage from a motor flush with 150000 miles on it.
