Default Tires?

Hey everyone,
I got two questions. My 2006 AVEO LS is going through front tires like crazy! I am driving 700 miles a week for school but I have only had these tires for around 8,000 miles and they are already almost shot. Anyone else have this issue? I don`t think its the brand tires because these are good tires and this is the second set I have had since I got the car. When I say they are good tires I mean that they cost like 80 bucks each when I got them. I gotthe car when it had around 23,000 on it and it now has 36,000 on it.

Next is there any other size tire I could run? I have the 15 inch wheels currently running the stock 185/55/15. These tires cost way more than are other vehicle which has 205/75/15 tires. I know there is not much room there but will a 185/65/15 fit? I don`t understand why chevy had to put this size tires on these cars in the first place.

Thanks!

Matt

i would find a good front end shop and have them look at it..how are your rear tires? any excess ware on them? are you the original owner of the car? i know a lot of questions but need a little more info. i have a 08 with 28k mi. and still have over 1/2 tread left on all 4. I'll get back on what tires i have..

Yes I will get the front end checked out for sure! The rear tires are great. They seem to be wearing perfectly normal. No I got the car when it had 23K on it so I have only had it since this summer.

Thanks

80 dollars is cheap for me. tires on my wifes eclipse cost 110 a piece. And those are just decent tires not even great tires. Their an off brand.

Changing to the tire size you mentioned would change tire diameter by approximateli 1-1/2 inches. That is quite a bit and would throw your spedo off by about 5 mph.

i have the 185-55-15 hancooks. factory tires. also when you get the alignment done, ask them to look and see if there is any damage from a accident. if so there could be your issue on going Thur so many tires

good luck
