Default New touchscreen nav

I have a 2007 Trailblazer with the factory nav/xm radio. I find the NAV system hard to use (the passenger can't use it while moving, search is non-intuitive among other things) I would love to replace this unit with a better nav system and possibly get bluetooth in the mix. Is it possible to replace this unit with a non-GM unit and get bluetooth?

Thanks,

Of course. Any nav unit you like will work provided it is installed properly. You will need an integration module to retain chimes, onstar, Retained accessory power, and choosing the right module will provide outputs like reverse, VSS, and parking brake to make the instal a breeze.

Also needed is a dash bezel, and an antenna adaptor

Default steering wheel controls

What about steering wheel controls (volume / next station). Does the $100 interface also allow those to continue working? I see lots on onstar and door chimes, but nothing on steering wheel volume controls.

Thanks,
Neville

There is a separate module that will integrate the SWC. Most of them are specific to the nav unit, these are the best ones to get as they are usually hardwired to the rear of the radio.
There are also universal modules you can get that are basically a univeral remote. It learns the infared commands from the remote that come from the unit, and when a button is pressed, it will send that command. You must install an infared emmitter somewhere in the vehicle so that is points at the radio. These usually work intermittently when there is lots of sunlight in the vehicle
