Default MSD ignition

I am still running the factory OBD1 electronics to control my TBI and transmission, my question is can I upgrade the ignition to a MSD6 using either the stock coil and distributor or replacing them as well?
From what I have read I can do this but I don't know how much I will benefit from this. I could raise my rev limit but the trans would still be controlled by the factory electronics.

I guess I'm on my own on this Zuk, I have looked and I can by the MSD6AL and a harness kit, also the distributor and coil. If I do it I'll let you know how it goes.
The only problem I see is the the ECM will still be controlling my shift points in the 4L60E unless I convert to full manual shifting. That would work well for me I think.

At the time I thought McCain was the lesser of 2 evils, I don't like him much either.

If I make the change I would still have my auto trans but with manual shifting. Can't grab a different gear in the middle of a mud race without the tires stopping for just a moment, that ends the run.

It's just a matter of time once I get a thought in my head, but it may be awhile before I can hide (oops) I mean justify, it to the wife.
One of the main features I like is the "soft rev" limit, that would work better with my nitrous setup.
