Blowing Indicator Bulbs

Hi there, I have this issue with my cav where it has suddenly started blowing my left rear indicator bulbs, the second part of the filament is gone and the bulb is blackened with a round hole in the side. It happened like a week before my alternator decided to give up the ghost, but I'm wondering if the bulb going all the time would of worn out the alternator now? A friend said it could be water dripping on the bulb and blowing it, but It has been the same way all year with rain and never blown, plus I put some silicone in all the gaps I could find. Could I have a short somewhere? or wrong fuse? Any help greatly appreciated

As far as a bulb blowning your alertnator, I doubt that. more then like it you had a small short or defective bulb. I would replace both of your indicator lamps with new ones and see if that same bulb blows out again in the next week or so.

As far as water causing the bulb to pop, no very likely, as the bulb would have to be majorly hot for water to break the glass due to thermal shock, thus blowing the filament.
