Found the site today. I just started working on my 65 Vette project and was looking for Chevelle sites where I might be able to find a home for the 67 396 2 bolt thats currently in the Vette. This looks like an interesting diverse community. It'll take me a while to see all thats going on here.

Thanks for the welcome guys. The guy that is going to paint the Vette now wants the 396. Its not that I'm discarding a big block. I'm modernizing my ride. The car is not an original big block car anyway and the frame is shot. So I bought a custom frame from Street Shops in Alabama with C4 suspension, coil overs on all 4 corners and rack and pinion steering. I felt that as long as I was upgrading I would go modern on the engine also. I have an aluminum 5.3 in the new chassis ready for the body after I finish stripping off the paint. I'm building this car to be a touring car and the 396 just wouldn't be as happy as this set up. The 396 is a 325hp 2 bolt from a 67 Chevelle and the 5.3 is a 295 hp Envoy motor with under 100 miles on it. With the weight reduction and a few enhancements to the 5.3 i'll have a very spirited but civilized ride.
