Default Universal home remote

Just got my 07 Impala LTZ, replaced a 00 LS, new Impala light
years ahead. 00 Impala LS had a Homelink remote that took 5 minutes to program. LTZ, hours later and still not programmed,
I phoned GM customer care, lady said other than reading the book
to me she could not help, well I can read just fine.
I asked her who manufactured the remote, obviously not Homelink.
She had no idea. There is no phone # in the manual for any help.
I went to the dealer who tried programming it the Homelink way,
so could see he had no idea what was going on either. He did spend20 minutes checking TSBs, finally found a phone # for help.
Finally getting some where, message said to check the web site first, now know summer 2006 all GM's have this new remote for
07 model year.
Phoned the lady who said my Genie should work with their unit.
Aftera half hour of her on the phone and me in the car programming this thingevery way possible, still not working.
She said one of their engineers will phone me next week
GM should have stayed with the Homelink instead of switching
to this new company, the problem with this is detracting from
all the good things about the new car.
Anyone else with this problem?

Did you have any luck? I am having the same issue with my non-homelink (3 light) remote on my 2007 Tahoe. I've read and re-read the manual, tried everything a dozen times, and read every post and forum I can find, and tried everything. I have a Linear model LD050 garage door opener (installed in 2003). Anybody have any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem with my single LED version. There are three sets of instructions out there depending on which unit you have. The threeLED one has more options.

Couldn't quite understand the first post because of typo. who makes the unit? What's the website?

Does anyone who has a 06 LTZ have a 800# forhelp
or a website for that run of door openers?

Summer 06 Lear is the supplier for the 07 model year.
Still waiting for Lear to get back to me, Feb.2 was the date the lady
tried to help me with no luck.
Here is the web site for Lear, http://www.learcar2u.com/
I do not have the newer rolling code format which programs
differently, mine is dip switches which should be straight forward.
Lear does sell a converter module for $24.95 which is reasonable.
One thing the lady did not do was to make sure the slotsare
cleaned out before trying to put in another code into the same slot,
it will not over write the last failed attempt, if your going to use
the same button for the memory it must be empty.

Reading other posts on problems, my cars was built in late Dec.06, have not tried for maximum range on remote or the flickering
headlights,to seeif there were any changes on the production line.

I contacted the Lear Car2U Customer Service Center. They sent back the following message:

We work with a majority of garage door openers in the market place. Your garage door unit is a very specialized unit, but we can get Car2U to work with your vehicle by adding on a conversion unit to your opener located inside your garage.
For more information or to purchase a conversion module, please visit our website at http://www.learcar2u.com/conversionmodule/ or contact us at 866-572-2728 Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 8:00pm ET and we will be happy to assist you.
Thank you for contacting us, and please feel free to call or email us with further inquiries.

I don't know why my opener is so "special," but I am ordering the conversion module. I will let you know how it works.

I recieved the Lear Car2U conversion model today. It took about 5 minutes to install. I followed the rolling code directions from theChevy manual to a tee (using the learning button on the conversion module instead of the opener), and it programmed the very first time. Total installation time....about 7 minutes. Total cost, including shipping...$35.

I wish I had know about the website (http://www.learcar2u.com) that shows compatible/non-compatible openers from the onset. It would have saved me several hours and bunch of frustration/grief.

I am sure this is what I will end up doing. Nice to know it will fix the problem.
I wasted hours on this as well and the fact that there was no help
phone # or manufacturer listed in the 07 manual left me on my own
to find out what I needed. Here is a copy of the Lear reply to my E mail.
Still waiting for them to get back to me.

The compatibility list appearsvery short withalmost 5 manufacturers. My rolling code Linear is not on the list. I am disappointedafter purchasing a 2007 Sierra only to find that I have to purchase an adaptor so that I don't have to hang a remote from the visor. If GM is offering this as a feature on their vehicle, why isadditional equipment needed to make it functional. I would think that if the Lear product was mostly compatibile with the market, the adaptor would be offered to customers as a warranty resolution???
