Default Liftgate won't open

The lift gate on my 2013 Chevy Suburban all of a sudden won't open all the way. It will only open about 12"-18" then it stops and closes itself rather abruptly. I'm trying figure out if it may be wire issue, or a sensor issue, or maybe a lift gate motor problem. Thanks for any suggestions.

Luckily I got it figured out. I replaced both struts (one had gone bad) and that did the trick. The lift gate motor needs help from both struts with that heavy door and the struts start helping it once it reaches the "break over" point. The struts cost about $30 each...way less than taking it to a dealer. It was a two man job...one person to hold the back door up and the other to remove and replace the struts. I hope this information helps.
