Default '03-'07 K2500 Engine Question

I am aware of the vet's engine that shuts down up to 4 cylinders to conserve fuel untill there is a need for more power. Now the newer trucks have that option. 1st q. ) Which would be more fuel efficient the 6.6L Diesel OH or the newer 5.3L gas engine. ( AFM active fuel managment )

2nd.) Is anyone aware of Chevy making a 6.6L Diesel AFM Engine? Can it be done?

Never heard of AFM for a diesel engine......but I suppose it might be possible. As they run at a much lower fuel/air ratio than gassers & with much higher compression ratios, I wonder if it would even work.

For a daily driver, the 5.3L gas engine is probably best (if you can even get it in a 2500 truck). If you are doing a lot of pulling, towing or hauling, the 6.6 Duramax is the way to go. You also get the Allison automatic with it - to make a truly wonderful pair.
