03 2500HD A/C issues!! Also, what size door speakers??
I just got this truck about 2 months ago and the air doesn't seem to get cold, it only gets a little cool. I tried to charge it at work yesterday and it seemed to be very low on refrigerant, the sticker under the hood that tells you the amount needed has been previously taken off for some reason. I looked online and it said about 1.6 pounds for the system but that seems low because this is a big truck and the cars here at work take more than that and they're only small cars to SUV's. Does anyone know how much it really takes??? The engine is a 6.0. Also when the air is on for a decent amount of time a hear a ticking or like slight slapping sound from in the dash and its consistent and has the same pattern every time, any idea what that could be??
I forgot to mention the air blower goes on and off at any given time and i usually have to get my girlfriend or whoever is riding shotgun to give it a little tap with their foot and it comes back on for the time being...I'm thinking it's a loose connection of some sort or possibly the motor going bad???
My front door speakers are shot and I don't want to take the door panel off (until i replaced them) just to see what size they are unless i absolutely have to, what size are they?

Hey CJ_03_2500HD,
Welcome to the Chevy Forums.
As to the Speakers, standard 6" rounds.
If you decide to mount components, instead of
co-axials, if you have an oval speaker grille, there is
plenty of room for them, but you may need to be creative
with mounting hardware.
IF you get large, deep, aftermarket speakers, you need to be careful
with fitment in regard to not obstructing your windows.

Ok nice thank you. I'm just gonna put a nice set in the front but nothing crazy. I have a sub under my back seat for the bass so I just need something not already blown in the front for better quality. Thanks again! Now if only I can figure out this A/C problem

Yeah, here we go.
See if you can still get in on the recall.
GM replaced my wiring harness last year on my 04 2500 HD.
Then my Blower motor, resistor, and CC unit all burned up.
I think it's that dual climate crap, myself.

I'll just give the local chevy dealer a call as soon as I get home and charge my phone. Hopefully that is the cause of all this and they can recall it. If not I'll just have to suffer for a bit. Thanks alot guys!

CJ - I checked a few manuals and they all say 1.6lbs and 8oz of oil. Does seem low compared to some older vehicles, but the more modern compressors are also more efficient.
