Default 05 P0101 and BAD HUB :(

I ran the K&N filter for years without issue so I know its not from the K&N oils like some believe.

It started the day after I paid my truck off, after about a 2 hour drive (which is normal, I use the truck for long distance driving) The SES light came on. At the time I did not have my own OBD2 scanner (it was stolen along with the rest of my mechanics tools and power tools) so I stopped into the local dealership and the guy came out and said it was a MAF code (p0101) and said it was possible it was just dirty, he cleared the code and said if it happens again come back.

Fast forward a few days I purchased a new OBD2 Scanner (Actron CP9580) which gives you the most recommended fixes. When the light came back later that day I got the P0101 code again and it came up as most likely fix to be Intake manifold gasket replacement.

I know some people have had some success getting rid of this code just using MAF cleaner, but has anyone had to replace the intake manifold gaskets? After some searching I havent found a thread where anyone had to..so I dont understand why this scanner is telling me the most likely fix is to replace the gaskets..

Any input?

I have replaced several intake gaskets for MAF codes on the 5.3 flex fuel engines however everyone of those ran bad when cold.

The SES light stayed on for the last 48 hours and I just went down to the gas station for cigarettes and it went back off.

I'm guessing it probably will be the gaskets, I'm at close to 128k

Well I have an appointment at 8am..on my way home tonight I felt a quick snap and now I'm experiencing heavy "grinding" making left turns and while driving its much quieter...I'm thinking the hub went bad..I already had an app for the CEL..so it will be there anyway. Hoping its not too expensive.

truck is all fixed. I dont want to discuss prices..but I'll just say I'm even more upset beacuse I could have done it all myself if my tools were not stolen. at least i can drive confidently again.
