05 silverado oil pressure too high
My silverado is suddenly showing too much pressure on the guage, maxed out while running, and 40 with just the key turned on. Oil dripping on drivers side floor mat, and when I turn the key on, I hear something like fluid running thru a line under the dash. Pressure regulator or check valve of some kind, maybe?

Since I bought my 05 Silverado about 1800 miles ago Ive noticed that my oil pressure guage ALWAYS reads maxxed out. Upon purchasing I had the oil and filter changed and, still the same. My father was a mechanic back in the day, and he said not to worry about it, as its lack of oil pressure that will hurt it. Ummmmm, negative on any oil in the cab though, thats quite odd. My truck DOES appear to leak some oil in my driveway though. Truck runs great with no noticable problems whatsoever infact just drove about 500 miles roundtrip to Reno this past weekend.

You need to get a simple mechanical oil pressure gauge and install it to the engine.
Finding a oil port will be the "fun" part.
One like this:

or similar or an aftermarket gauge to mount permantly inside the cab.
I do not think any of the automakers have installed a mechanical oil gauge for decades.
Thus there is no way for oil to be dripping from the dash.
Finding a oil port will be the "fun" part.

OP, I can't think of a single reason to have oil in the floor board unless you spilled it. Or unless you're calling anti-freeze oil? I do not think you gauge issues are "normal". The old mechanical style will tell all. Please post back with what you find. I'm very curious.
