1990 chevy K1500 timing
I hope someone can help me. I have a 1990 chevy K1500 pickup with a 5.7 liter. When I have the timing wire plugged up it will not run right, it misses terribly, shakes, will not rev up and will backfire. I can unplug the timing wire and it will run fine, wont miss and rev up fine. I have changed the distibutor, knock sensor, esc module, egr valve, map sensor, ecm, egr control module, wires, plugs, cap and button with the same results every time. Someone please help its my only vehicle.

Are you not using and inductive timing light, the kind that just clips over the jacket of the spark plug wire? If you are interrupting the spark to adj the timing then that is what is most likely causing the mis-fire
