Default 1996 C2500 5.7 No Start No Spark

All,

Hope you're well. I'm new to the forum and wanted to see what I could learn from everyone before dumping money into parts / service.

Last Saturday I bought a 1996 C2500 2WD with L31 / M30. Last 8 of the VIN are TE207640. I bought the vehicle for 450 off craigslist. It was not running when I bought it. Previous owner said it just died on her one day and she was not able to get it restarted. It sat for about a month. I wanted to see if I could get it operational with the hope of selling for a few bucks. If the repairs are extensive I'll probably part it out or scrap it but wanted to give it my best shot before making that decision.

Truck has about 200k and looks to be all there. Truck turns over but does not start up and run. Logical place to start is fuel and spark so I tried to bust it off with starting fluid in TB. No success. I put a Lisle in line spark tester on each of the plug wire and had my son crank it over while I watched. The only cylinder that showed any sign of spark was #1 but the spark was weak / intermittent. Previous owner changed the plugs and wires before I purchased the vehicle. They look new and are installed correctly.

Wanted to see what everyone thought about where to go from here. I presume i need to check the distributor cap and rotor. Curious about what I should be looking for or if I need to focus elsewhere.

Thanks in advance.
