which pads and which brand rotors should I get?


So my front rotars and pads are gone and I am gonna replace them.
I am thinking about going with ceramic pads because I like my tires to be black, not my wheels.
So in attempt to keep my wheels clean I am thinking about trying ceramic pads. I ride my motorcycle ahellofa lot
more than I drive the truck so even if ceramic pads don't last as long as regular pads, I should still get many years use outa them.
I drive my truck about 8,000 miles a year, my bike on the other hand about 12,000 miles.

And also auozone is giving me the choice of getting "Valucraft" rotors, or "Duralast" rotors.
The duralast they say is closest to OEM spec, but the duralast are also like twice as much as the valuctraft.
From someone who has used both, can I expect a massive difference between the 2?

And I also need new drums for the rear.
What is the standard size drum on a '95 K1500?
it is either a 10 inch or 11 inch. (I think it is a 10 inch, but that's only a guess)

Value craft rotors are junk. Most likely warped out of the box. Durlast is probably not much better. Try a real parts store (one shops would use) or try www.tirerack.com. You will get a better rotor for close to the same price. I recommend Akebono ceramic pads.

I did a quick search and found the AC Delco brand for your truck for about $30ea

Oh ya, AC Delco should be damn near OEM replacement. winna winna chicken dinna?


Also on Tire rack, alot of people gave this rotor a good review.
However most of the reviews came from people who drove little Jap cars.
I would think the AC Delco would be possibly the best match.
And I think kragen sells AC Delco so I can get a military discount too.

EDIT: Ah damn, they don't have AC Delco rotors.
Oh well, this site has the rotors for cheap enough anyway.

ATE or Centric rotors are very good we use them often at work. We use AC Delco sometimes but you have to watch it they have 2 lines a OE line or second line (economy).The Ate is a very nice rotor pair them with Akebono pads and your truck will brake like it never has before. It should stop on a dime and give you 9 cent change.

What about EBC Redstuff ceramic pads and rotors?
I have tried EBC pads on my motorcycle and they were pretty good,
though I prefer Galfer.
googling them, they seem to be looked highly upon:

But of coarse who really knows. they may just weed out the bad reviews and keep the good ones.

Any opinions about EBC pads and/or rotors?
Anybody use them on your car/truck? How'd ya like 'em?

Well come to find out EBC doesn't seem to make ceramic red stuff brakes for silverados.
I am gonna see if AC delco makes ceramic pads and if they do I will get their rotors too.
Another option is Akebono pads and rotor which seems to be very common, or akebono pads
With ATE rotors as MDTahoe suggested.
