I have a small crack on the passenger side rear bolt hole sidewall on the lower intake manifold. It's a horizontal crack maybe 1/2 in long ( although I guess it goes all the way thru the sidewall because I was reinstalling manifold and was hand tightening the bolt and notice the white thread sealant coming out the crack when I was tightening bolt). I was wondering if JB weld or something like that would work? It doesn't look like coolant or anything passes thru that area since it's the rear bolt hole, but then again I'm no truck mechanic.

The manifold is cast iron.

Appreciate any help.

BTW, I'm new to the forum, so if I'm posting in the wrong area I apologize in advanced.

Ok. I got everything put back together. I went ahead and replaced the head gaskets and I was going to have heads reworked, but they said both were cracked. So I got new heads. Anyway my truck will start right up but it runs like crap. It sounds like it's about to die and if I'm not giving it gas it will. Anybody know what I did wrong????

This is the way I set the lash. I turned the fly wheel to right till exhaust closed and just starts to open then I set the intake once at zero lash I turned 3/4?turn. Then I turned it again until intake opened and was about 1/4 closed then set exhaust. I started with cylinder one and did the driver side then the passenger side. Is this correct?
