Default flashing service engine soon light

ok i have a 01 2500 hd with a 6.0 in it the service engine light just started flashing and it is popping and rough idling what could be the problem its got about 200,000 miles on it

post the codes that have set....probably misfire codes.

if you drive it in this codition you WILL damage the catalytic convertors.

Flashin ses light is generally a misfire like said above. Need the codes to see if anything else may be with it though

i have not had the codes read yet it happened late last night and we just drove it home the parts store is maybe five miles up the road should it be safe to drive there

i pulled the plugs and a few looked burned and crusty could that be the problem?

I read on a older post someone said to shim the crank senor on engines with high miles could that be the problem

Put new plugs and wires in. Let the computer reset by unplugging the negative battery cable for a hour or so and then restart and drive it. See what it does then

i took it and had the codes read it had the misfire code and knock sensor also o2 sensor but it has ran fine all day long with no no problems

not likely. guessing at fixes without evidence of the problem is a terrible way to troubleshoot. If the plugs are worn, change them. Post the actual code p03XX
