Default 1998 Silverado won't start...

I have a 1998 Silverado with 145k miles. It starts just fine in the mornings, but if I try to drive it to the gas station and turn it off to fill it up and tried to start it after, but will barely start up. But the main problem is when I drive about 10 miles and turn off my truck it won't turn over when I try to start it again. If I wait about 4-5 hours it will start up again just fine. I've taken it to 3 mechanics and they have all told me different things. One told me it was the starter, one told me it was the fuel pump, and another said nothing was wrong because it didn't happen for him. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong? I'm open to all suggestions. FYI the fuel gage doesn't work if that has anything to do with it.

Reading between the lines here. That sounds like bad starter field windings.

I had same problem in my 98. Fuel pump was the culprit on mine.
